Hanceville National Award

Hanceville High School's National Honor Society (NHS) chapter has earned national recognition for its outstanding commitment to leadership, service, and making a positive impact on the school and community. The chapter was recently named a recipient of the prestigious NHS Chapter of Distinction Award, recognizing its dedication to academic excellence, student leadership, and community service.

The award celebrates NHS chapters across the nation that go above and beyond in demonstrating the core values of the National Honor Society. Hanceville High School's chapter stood out for its strong leadership, commitment to service, and efforts to develop students who make a difference both inside and outside the classroom.

Hanceville High School Principal Daniel Wakefield expressed his pride in the chapter's accomplishments and recognized NHS adviser Teri Weaver for her dedication to developing student leaders.

“I am very proud of what our NHS has accomplished over the past year. Ms. Teri Weaver is working very hard to not only promote high scholastic achievement, but to also build excellent leaders for the real world. We hope that the leadership abilities they learn will help make our school and community a better place,” said Wakefield.

The recognition highlights the hard work of Hanceville High School's NHS members and their commitment to upholding the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

“The Hanceville NHS chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change,” said Ronn Nozoe, CEO of the national organization. “The NHS Chapter of Distinction Award celebrates chapters that truly embody what the National Honor Society stands for–students who don’t just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities.”

The NHS Chapter of Distinction Award recognizes chapters that demonstrate exceptional leadership, effective chapter operations, and a strong commitment to the organization's mission. Recipients meet essential national standards while excelling in areas such as student governance and leadership development.
