Sweet Potato Cookoff

On November 5, 2024, various county school students met at the Cotton Creek Venue in Cullman for the FCCLA County Sweet Potato Cook-off. The Cullman Sweet Potato Growers Association, Farm City, and the Cotton Creek Venue sponsored the event. The sweet potato cook-off had four categories: casseroles, bread, pies, and desserts.

The sweet potato casserole winners were Katie Homes from Vinemont, who placed 1st; Sierra Cranford from West Point, who placed 2nd; Evy Hayes from Cullman, who placed 3rd; and Hattie Graham from Cullman, who placed 4th.

The sweet potato bread category winners were Ruthy Boggan from Cold Springs, placed 1st; Aubrey Murphy from Cullman, placed 2nd; Lainey Gerstman from Cold Springs, placed 3rd; and Autumn Godwin from Vinemont, placed 4th.

Winners in the sweet potato desserts were Savannah Bischoff from Cold Springs, who placed 1st; Taylor Tolbert from West Point, who placed 2nd; Rebecca Baggett from Cold Springs, who placed 3rd; and Baylee Dye from Cold Springs, who placed 4th.

Winners from the sweet potato pies category were Nathan Butler from CATA, who placed 1st; Cammi Graves from Good Hope, who placed 2nd; Lilly Folds from West Point, who placed 3rd; and DJ Pool from Good Hope, who placed 4th.
