The Cullman County Board of Education on Monday approved the hiring of Daniel Wakefield to be the new principal of Hanceville High School. Wakefield has worked at Hanceville for 19 years and is currently the principal of Hanceville Middle School.
“I’m very excited and very appreciative for the opportunity to be principal of Hanceville High School,” said Wakefield. “Hanceville has been very good to me, and I’ll continue to work hard every day to try and make this campus a better place.”
Mr. Wakefield has been an administrator for 8 years, 3 of those as principal of Hanceville Middle, and 5 years as assistant principal of Hanceville Middle. Under Wakefield’s leadership, Hanceville Middle earned Blue Ribbon Lighthouse status, the highest level of national recognition by Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence.
“Mr. Wakefield has done a really good job leading Hanceville Middle School and I am excited to work with him to continue the tradition of excellence at Hanceville High School,” said Dr. Shane Barnette, Cullman County School Superintendent.
Wakefield’s first day as Hanceville High School principal will be July 1. A search for his replacement at Hanceville Middle will begin soon.
